Remote Car Key Repair
Remote keys wear out in predictable ways. The lock button stops responding, the range drops until you have to be standing next to the car, or the rubber pad splits and lets dirt onto the contacts.
We assess the key and either repair it or, where a repair would not last, supply and program a replacement.
- Buttons not working or needing hard presses
- Damaged or split casings
- Battery and contact issues
- Remote not responding at all
- Reduced remote range
- Replacement key where repair is not suitable

Repair or replace?
We will tell you which makes sense. A worn button pad or a tired battery is worth repairing. A corroded board after water damage generally is not, and we would rather say so than charge for a fix that fails in a month.
Range problems
If the remote only works from a metre away, start with a fresh battery. If that does not restore range, the transmitter may be failing.
Keep the spare healthy
Spare keys left in a drawer for years often have flat batteries when you finally need them. Worth checking while we are with you.
Remote Car Key Repair FAQs
My remote only works sometimes — worth repairing?
Often yes. Intermittent operation is usually the battery, the contacts or a cracked solder joint, all of which can be addressed.
Do you replace key batteries?
Yes, and we will check the remote works properly afterwards rather than just swapping the cell.
Can you fix a water-damaged key?
Sometimes, but corrosion on the board is often terminal. We will assess it and tell you honestly.
